Finding a campsite right for you

Campsites can be ad hoc or organised.  But there are some considerations that need to be taken into account before you commit to a camping site.  Here the basics of choosing one are explored to ensure everyone picks the campsite that is just right for them.

A suitable campsite can’t be chosen easily. One that suits some people and tents may not be right for you.  However, there are some basics that you should be aware of before you set up your tents for the night.

A campsite can mean 2 things.First there are organised sites with added extras such as toilets, showers, a shop and maybe even washing machines.  If you are looking for a campsite with these type of facilities then remember the more facilities it has the more people it will attract, so if you are someone who cannot bear the tiniest noise after 10 pm, then try to steer away from the bigger sites. You may find larger sites offer entertainment or a bar, and these can get noisy at night. If parties and noise appeal, this type of site will suit – otherwise look for a different campsite that will be quieter.

The second type of campsite that you will come across is a site that you choose to pitch your camping tents, which is not an organised campsite. This might be a field or open area.If it is a field, the farmer needs to give permission.Don’t assume you can camp there – many farmers dislike campers and may become angry if you make assumptions about their land.

If you are in a remote place, it may be nice and quiet, but you may lack access to water for boiling to drink and wash.Consider water – bottled will do fine.  You also need to think about being able to use the toilet.A pub nearby is rather nice but always remember the need for toilets!

Don’t pitch tent in a valley due to the flooding risk. You also should avoid sites adjacent to water (eg rivers lakes and canals) as there will be insects and maybe even rats.

But so long as you consider the issues above and choose what is right for you and for your needs, then you should have a great experience camping and have a comfortable stay.

Which camping accessory?

This idea about what camping accessories to bring on your camping holiday is secondary to deciding what type of camping you will be doing. You shouldn’t buy everything that you see when you go shopping for your camping accessories. There is such a wide variety and yet much of it is completely useless. Money is tight these days and we all need to save where we can. You can have a quite comfortable time with camping these days thanks to all the wonderful camping accessories that you can buy. Your first purchase should be your large camping tents.

Essentials in camp accessories

Camp accessories are of two varieties, those you don’t need and those you do. We are only going to concentrate on the essentials here and those depend on what kind of camping you intend to do. Eating is the most important, so you will always need something to cook on. If you’re going to head up into the mountains and into the wild for a while you might only need an open fire. You must also bring some utensils and kitchen implements to be able to cook your food in and eat your food off. You can buy many lightweight alternatives to those found in the kitchen. But for most of us, a camping stove is an absolute essential. You can buy camping stove’s in all shapes and sizes from one ring burners to ones that resemble what you have at home in your kitchen.

Camping accessories… sleeping arrangements

You can choose types to suit your taste or indeed your pocket, the choice is yours. Your style of camping is going to dictate to a large degree here as well. Sleeping bags come in all different shapes and sizes. They come for adults and children, for all types of weather, even single and double. You can also purchase a variety of beds from just simple mats that keep you just off the ground to light weight aluminum beds that will turn into a chair as you need it. We had such a brilliant time this year when we were camping holidays in Spain.
