A golfer’s idea of heaven
Keen golfers all have their opinions on their preferred locations and courses, but generally their views will be based on three different variables. First and foremost will be the quality of the course itself, which will need to have lush fairways, slick greens and picturesque views. If the course is a stern but fair test of his abilities, then so much the better.
A good golf course can be completely changed by strong winds or rain, so the weather is also a crucial factor. The best conditions are a comfortable heat and gentle breezes, striking the right balance between comfort and challenge. There’s nothing golfers like more than playing their favourite game in the sunshine, especially if they happen to be playing well that day.
The standards of a course’s facilities are, lastly, a major consideration. Being able to relax after a round with a drink and some good food makes all the difference, and all the more so in a clubhouse with a good atmosphere and pleasant decor. Even on a bad day, golfers like to discuss the high and low points about their rounds.
The Algarve region of Portugal is one such destination that provides an excellent golfing experience. Often located close to tourist centres, the many quality clubs provide really good golf in fantastic surroundings. There is plenty of nightlife and entertainment, and the local restaurants are generally excellent, offering plenty besides just golf.
Holiday appartments are in-demand, despite the availability of the Algarve’s hotels, as many appreciate the benefits of self-catering. Good quality rental appartments in the Algarve are easy to find by searching online. It doesn’t take long, and the extent of what is on offer soon becomes apparent, with every need catered for. Naturally, those away from the marina are likely to be available at lower prices for the most part.
