Things to do in Moraira
No more than 30 years ago, Moraira was home to just a handful of fishermen and their families, now it has been subject to some humble urbanisation into more of a tourist resort and retirement haven. The small town has many delights, and enough to do to satisfy and holiday goer that chooses this small village.
Despite this being a small town, it has experienced an urbanisation, so you will find whole host of cafes and bars. With views of the Platja de l’Ampolla, the only beach in Moraira, you can chill out at the bar or find a selection of places to have lunch or dinner. There aren’t many hotels around here, but the private villas are the prfect place to spend your Moraira Holiday in, that more than satisfy the needs of a self catering holiday. This beach also boasts a selection of water sports such as jet skis and scuba diving, perfect in the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Venturing about a mile north of the Moraira centre you will find the ever so attractive beach of Platja Del Portet, another small beach, but still just as beautiful.
The rocky beaches south of Moraira offer something different and are only a short drive. Once you leave your Moraira Villa for the secluded rocky beaches, perfect for that romantic getaway with a loved one. Definately remember the snorkel and goggles as there aren’t many clearer waters in the area.
For the hiker there are the walks along the Ermita de San Juan headland that offer some spectacular views, you can find maps of the best walks in the extremely polite and friendly tourist information outposts.
For the more excitable folk choosing to holiday in Moraira, you can head to the Go-Karting circuit in between Moraira and Teulada where you can find Go-Karts to suit all ages and abilities. Or if you like to hit a round of golf, the local golf course is 30 minutes inland with its own club house and can provide a great day out if you are so inclined.
Some of my favourite villas in Spain are in Moraira and there is a lot more to do than would first be perceived of this small town, it can cater to all needs, from that romantic getaway to the family holiday, you are sure to find everything you need, including the traditional Spanish market, at this beautiful town.
